The short version

Desktamer has no account and no analytics. Your pets, notes, stats and settings stay in a folder on your computer. It goes online only for the things below, and none of them carry your pets or what you do in the app.

What the app sends

License

Desktamer checks your key with Lemon Squeezy, who sell Desktamer. Activating sends the key and this computer's name (such as "Sam's MacBook Air"), so each activation can be told apart. After that, a daily check sends the key and the activation's id. Offline, a license keeps working.

Updates

Every few hours Desktamer asks updates.desktamer.com whether there's a new version. The request carries nothing about you or your pets. You can turn this off in Settings.

Gallery

Nothing goes online until you open the Gallery tab. Then it asks codex-pets.net for the listing, the pictures and the pets you get. Import from URL downloads only the address you paste.

Crash reports

If Desktamer crashes, it sends Sentry a report of where in its code that happened, with its version and your system's. Reports pass through our relay at crash.desktamer.com, which drops your IP address. Names in file paths, email addresses and ids are removed first. Nothing is sent unless it crashes, and you can turn this off in Settings.

This website

desktamer.com has no cookies, analytics or trackers. The "Send pets home" switch is remembered in your browser's local storage, and never leaves it. A picture you drop on the page stays in your browser.

Buying

Lemon Squeezy handles payment as the merchant of record, under their privacy policy. We see what they share with sellers: your name, email address and country, and what you bought.
